Blue Haze

STAN AT THE ACE CAFÉ

The Ace Cafe's Blue Haze day is an opportunity for two-strode fans to show off their lovingly built specials and polished, immaculately rebuilt classics. The owners of the Ace, John and Linda Wilsmore, invited my son Harley and I along tor the day. As you might expect there were perfect standard RG500s, RD500s and GT750s, not to mention gleaming standard LC350s and some incredible LC350 specials.

For ingenuity, the Cagiva Mito fitted with a Yamaha 350 YPVS engine took some beating bjt there were some surprise rebuilds on show too;

a pair of RD125LCs both lovingly restored and an early DT175 that looked like new. I thought I knew my old bikes but one .hat caught my eye was an AER built by a firm called AE Reynolds. They had even made their own engine, a 350cc air-cooled twin, and although it was pre-wa'the engine looked amazingly modern.

My personal favourite WcS an immaculate purple and bla:k Scott and my son rather fancied a rare Kawasaki KR250 tandem twin. It was good to meet so many two-stroke fans and to fine that they all read CMM too. ©
